DIFFERENCES IN PAINT AND INK ON IOD STAMPS
Hi there sweet friend! Welcome to my Blog!
This is where I hope to inspire you to create beautiful things for your home, for gifts, or just for your soul! There’s nothing like the feeling of creating something beautiful with your own hands and we can ALL do it! Speaking of creating something beautiful, have you heard of IOD stamps? This is such an easy way to add beautiful images to any project. Depending on the look you’re going for, you have the option of using paint or ink when stamping. Today, I want to share with you the differences in paint and ink on IOD stamps. There are pros and cons of each and I’ve listed mine below.
USING PAINT on IOD Stamps
PROS:
- More paint colors to choose from.
- Any kind of paint can be used.
- Paint is cheaper than ink.
- Color is usually darker when stamped.
CONS:
- Calls for more supplies (brayer or roller and surface to pour paint on).
- Applying right amount of paint just where needed can be tricky.
- Details are not as defined or crisp.
- Clean up is messy.
USING INK on IOD Stamps
PROS:
- Image is more crisp and defined
- Only need ink and ink pad.
- Easier to apply to stamp.
- Cleanup is easier.
CONS:
- Fewer ink colors available.
- More expensive than paint.
- Color is usually lighter, more subdued when stamped.
Let’s take a look at the differences on a project.
I found a couple of “crockery pots” last week so of course I wanted to paint them and stamp with the Crockery stamp!
Can you tell which one was done with paint and which one was done with ink? It’s easiest to tell when looking at the words.
I really like both! I used DIY paint on the left one and IOD ink on the right one.
But to be honest, if I’m stamping something with words, I think using ink gives you the best impression! But if you like a more worn look, you might prefer the paint.
If you’d like to see a video on how I used each one, you can watch that here!
I did another video on the Basics of stamping here as well! There’s a lot of good information in this one!
